A long time ago, in an attic far far away…
Before Family Chotki ever came to be, there was Dacha Designs—our first little entrepreneurial venture. As a family, we screen printed Russian-inspired patterns onto flour sack towels in our attic workspace. Our motto back then? Rustic. Russian. Reusable.
It was our first attempt at building something of our own—a blend of beauty, heritage, and home. Eventually, we closed the shop to focus fully on the mission of Family Chotki. And for a long time, we thought that chapter was closed for good.
A Familiar Road, A Better Way
Over the years, a few people would quietly mention those towels. A little nudge here. A memory there. Our daughter especially—she told us she missed our old shop.
Then, somewhat unexpectedly, we found a way to bring Dacha Designs back in a sustainable way: we focus on the design, and outsource the printing in small batches. The best of both worlds.
So we got to designing—and the woodland inspired us.
One of our first designs had to be in honor of our daughter’s beloved pet hedgehog, Grogu (yes, that Grogu). The other is a fresh take on a past favorite: our nesting doll, now woven into a woodland theme.
Both are printed on 100% cotton flour sack towels. Just like we used to.
The Path Ahead
Dacha Designs is now a small sub-brand under the Family Chotki umbrella. It’s not the main focus, but a meaningful part of our business tapestry.
The current two designs are a limited-run—to see what resonates, and whether there’s still a place for this project. If there is, we already have a few more ideas we’d love to bring to life in future limited runs.
If not, we’re grateful for the chance to bring this small chapter back—just for a moment.
These towels are our way of offering a bit of warmth to your kitchen—always grounded in the same spirit: a love for home, heritage, and the quiet beauty of the everyday.
